RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Introduce advanced BI, machine learning, and alternative data methods to improve efficiency and revenue growth.
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of data science projects, including data prep, modeling, analysis, deployment, and performance tracking.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to build production-ready data pipelines (ingestion, transformation, feature creation, training, and prediction).
  • Research reinsurance and advisory market opportunities to enhance existing models and support new product development.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Track model and data product performance, addressing issues and maintaining reliability.
  • Promote best practices in data science across analytics and engineering teams.
  • Stay current on emerging data technologies and trends and assess applicability to business strategy.
  • Drive the execution and delivery of planned data products on the roadmap.
  • Mentor and support the career growth of data science and engineering talent.
  • Assist in recruiting both technical and business personnel.
  • Partner with product management on technical communication with stakeholders.
  • Contribute to sprint planning, backlog creation, and estimation alongside product managers.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5 years of experience as a data scientist or in equivalent quantitative engineering role
  • Significant experience with Python (pandas, sklearn), Spark (RDDs, dataframes), machine learning algorithms and libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch), SQL
  • Must be able to produce production level code and familiar with engineering best practices (e.g. unit testing, code reviews)
