RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Actively participate in the production of financial results
  • Assist with the fulfilment of the following functions:
  • Financial Condition Testing
  • Development and maintenance of the existing valuation models, including the update of actuarial assumptions
  • Assist with the production of the Annual Appointed Actuary's report
  • Pro-Forma and Budgeting exercises
  • Assist with the production of actuarial experience studies and assumption update process, develop new experience studies as required
  • Actively contribute to the success of the following long term projects:
  • Corporate actuarial work involved in new business and product development
  • Transition to new International Financial Reporting Standard for Insurance (IFRS17)
  • Efficiently adapt current business processes and tools to accommodate roll-out of several new IT systems
  • Development of new valuation models and improvements to existing models where required or value-adding
  • Other special projects involving the actuarial team
  • Engage the corporate actuarial team to do its best:
  • Assist with mentoring team members so they can independently produce high quality work
QUALIFICATIONS
  • University Degree in Mathematics or Actuarial Science
  • Possesses the ASA/ACIA actuarial designation, and pursues a fellowship level designation (FSA/FCIA)
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) professional standards as they pertain to the life and disability business
  • Possesses 7 or more years of applicable experience
  • Working knowledge of IFRS 17 modeling
  • Outstanding knowledge of Excel
  • Working knowledge of advanced data warehouse reporting (e.g. SQL)
  • Superior knowledge of the AXIS actuarial software and of group insurance products
  • Working knowledge of the Risk Integrity IFRS 17 solution
  • Bilingualism in French and English will be considered an asset.
