RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage and oversee the underwriting referral process and ensure service level agreements are maintained.
  • Provide advice on technical underwriting questions. Leading and coaching specialists on how to best provide underwriters with support.
  • Provide guidance on developing business cases for management or head office approval.
  • Responsible for training and mentoring of the department. This will include determining training needs, lead research & content development, and coaching on training methodologies.
  • Oversee the Technical File Review function. Identifying trends and areas to focus reviews, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Maintenance of the underwriting guidelines. Working with team members to propose updates and additions as needed using referrals, audits and training as input.
  • Manage day to day operations of the team while fostering a solution-oriented culture.
  • Provide Commercial Program and MGA Agreement and administration management. Ensure consistent approach in managing agreements, language, compliance and ensuring Technical Underwriting oversight is provided to ensure profitability and compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 10 years with Commercial Underwriting experience.
  • Post secondary education in an insurance program or any business. Has attained their CIP designation.
  • Experienced leading, coaching, and mentoring individuals.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
