  • Accountable for the overall performance and people management of the actuarial team
  • Develop appropriate tools, processes and methodologies for analyzing rates and products
  • Obtain a deep understanding of the Ontario book of business in particular, and the Canadian business in general, to explain the key factors underlying the emerging experience and to provide strategic insights to stakeholders
  • Oversee rate reviews for personal insurance products and communicate the results of reviews to business stakeholders
  • Research and apply both traditional and innovative ways to apply accepted actuarial techniques to business issues
  • Manage the production of rate filings and work with the regulators to obtain approval
  • Coach junior staff and act as a technical expert and mentor for all direct reports.
  • Ensure all personal insurance products are developed in line with the relevant standards
  • FCAS/FCIA, or very near FCAS
  • 7+ years of personal lines pricing experience or 10+ years of P&C actuarial experience
  • Proven track-record in leading, mentoring and growing a high-performance team
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Effective negotiation skills with the ability to build consensus and influence effectively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Hands-on as well as managerial experience in scripting/coding including in Python and R
  • Superior analytical skills with an insatiable desire to probe, question, validate and challenge to ensure accurate and insightful analysis
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize
