RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Pricing, building and on-boarding new products
  • Support product development team in building customer solutions.
  • Drafting and submitting actuarial memorandums and manuals and responding to rate- related compliance inquiries.
  • Supporting the pricing model build, quote triage and data capture.
  • Provide leadership on the corporate financial reconciliations and reporting, supervising team of data engineers and analysts.
  • Provide leadership in pricing supporting new and renewing business.
  • Provide clear communication to senior leadership and accident and health colleagues.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive responsibility in an insurance or reinsurance environment.
  • B.A./B.Sc. or higher in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Economics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Statistics or discipline of comparable rigor.
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries, Fellow of the Society of Actuaries preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of accident and health pricing and modeling, product development and compliance experience; in the following products by order of priority.
  • Specialty and Personal Accident products: Blanket special risk, AD&D, pet insurance, travel accident or similar.
  • Group and Individual Health: Major medical, medical stop loss, provider excess of loss/ HMO excess, supplemental and limited benefit plans (eg. Hospital Indemnity), medicare supplement, medicare/medicaid, critical Illness, or similar.
  • Familiarity with GAAP and valuation; experience working with financial results and key stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data and technology, accompanied by an eagerness to further develop these skills:
  • Required: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and SQL.
  • Preferred: Experience with a programming language like Python, R, Java, C, C#, or C++.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing;
  • A strong work ethic which exhibits an ability to complete tasks working within a small group both as a member of the group and / or leader of the group;
  • Dynamic and entrepreneurial thinker, with attention to detail and willingness to take on a variety of projects and develop solutions with minimal oversight.
