RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and manage the P&C actuarial reserving process for Hong Kong
  • Coordinate, prepare and perform actuarial analyses including ultimate loss projections and associated P&L movements
  • Provide statutory signoff on actuarial reserves for statutory classes of business to the HK Insurance Authority
  • Support Finance, Underwriting, Claims, Risk, Capital Management, and other functions on reserving and strategic business decisions
  • Be a leader in the implementation of IFRS 17, supporting technical assumption setting and providing insight on IFRS 17 financial metrics
  • Strongly and directly support the implementation of other relevant accounting and actuarial standards, including HK RBC and the ORSA
  • Liaise with auditors on the year-end audit process for actuarial reserves for all classes of business
  • Provide consultation and technical expertise on actuarial models and risk issues
  • Ensure that the claims provisioning process for Hong Kong is appropriately governed in accordance with Group, -Regional and Local regulatory policies and guidance
  • Provide assistance on Business Planning and drive the actuarial Plan view
  • Assist in the monitoring of portfolio performance relative to Plan and forecasts
  • With appropriate review, coordinate, prepare and perform actuarial analyses including trend analyses, reinsurance analyses and analyses of loss and expense reserves, as it relates to pricing adequacy and strategic direction
  • Interface with regulators and auditors as applicable
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics or other related disciplines
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the P&C actuarial field, ideally with experience in Hong Kong market
  • Preferably a fully qualified actuary in a locally recognized actuarial body
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English
  • Strong business management background and people management skills, including development of high-performing teams and/or virtual teams
  • Proven high-level ability to negotiate, challenge and influence
  • Excellent Actuarial, Financial and Statistical knowledge
  • Excellent in MS Excel and Database management
  • Preferred good knowledge of ResQ, SAS or similar packages
  • Strong knowledge of Hong Kong general insurance business and products
