  • Technical expertise of IFRS17 topics including PAA and GMA, assumptions, data requirements and financial statement/position presentation
  • Understands company methodology used to generate cashflows and produce IFRS17 financials, and IFRS17 reserving inputs/assumptions required for modelling. Delivers data/assumptions for IFRS17 testing. Analyses results of testing/modelling
  • Leads regular communications with head office, including drafting of topics and preparation of discussion material
  • Provides insights regarding Canadian specifics, including OSFI and CIA requirements
  • Understands Temple & company financial data, working with Corporate Actuarial team to extract/obtain data as required
  • Understands Temple & company reinsurance structures and IFRS17 modelling implications, providing input to head office as required
  • Continued development of a local IFRS17 assessment tool, including sensitivity testing and comparison against company outputs
  • Provides data/analysis to respond to regulatory IFRS17 requests
  • Works closely with other IFRS17 leads in Canada and external IFRS17 actuarial resources
  • Works closely with Risk to provide IFRS17 knowledge/inputs in development of FCT under IFRS17
  • Takes an active role in development and roll out of local IFRS17 communication material
  • Keeps abreast of global and Canadian industry IFRS17 developments, including CIA position papers/educational notes and OSFI guidelines
  • A Bachelors’ Degree in Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or other similar fields
  • The ACAS/ACIA designation and working towards the FCIA would be considered a strong asset
  • 5+ years of knowledge and experience in the property & casualty industry. Experience with reserving and financial forecasting preferred
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of IFRS17 would be considered a strong asset
  • A strategic thinker with strong business acumen and problem solving skills
  • A strong communicator with excellent written and interpersonal skills
  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy as well as solid analytical and abstract reasoning skills
  • Demonstrates sound judgement in actuarial decision making as well as technical decisions
  • Strong organization skills, with the ability to analyze current processes and procedures and recommend and implement improvements
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work with all areas of the company collaboratively to achieve results under tight deadlines
  • Advanced Software/ application knowledge including - MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of MS Access, and Power BI will be considered a strong asset
  • Ability to handle a number of diverse projects and coordinate the activities of others in a performance oriented culture
  • Bilingual in English and French would be considered a strong asset
