RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Research, design and implement the strategy for reinsurance, including the establishment of Standards to be followed. Direct activities to ensure compliance with these Standards.
  • Lead and interpret the analysis and analytic modeling of policy, claims, and financial data to determine economically efficient treaty reinsurance retentions and reinsurance program limits which respond to the needs of each company. Consult with national underwriting departments of each group company to ensure its treaty reinsurance offers sufficient scope of coverage and capacity to meet the needs of its target markets.
  • A key member of the committee which establishes concentration limits and analyzes the financial strength and business cases of reinsurers to mitigate the counterparty credit risk associated with the reinsurance contracts.
  • Negotiate cost-effective treaty reinsurance contracts.
  • Responsible for reinsurance claims reporting including establishing standards for loss reporting by all group companies and reinsurer dispute resolution.
  • Responsible for directing the underwriting, pricing and claims on reinsurance provided to subsidiary companies.
  • Design, negotiate and administer an insurance program to meet the company insurance needs
  • Develop and maintain reinsurance department relationships with management and staff across the group of companies.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • University degree in business, finance or mathematics based plus FCIP designation.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance products and management fundamentals.
  • 10 years’ experience in insurance or reinsurance industry.
  • Subject matter expert in all facets of property and casualty reinsurance including program design, contract language, claims, industry trends and their anticipated implications.
  • Knowledge of financial statements and concepts.
