RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Working with data of all different types & sizes i.e. extracting, cleaning & making it ready for analysis.
  • Use data visualisation tools to describe what is in the data.
  • Utilising statistical and machine learning methods such as GLM, GBM, clustering, decision trees, network analysis and text mining for particular commercial problems.
  • Providing pricing related analysis, building predictive models
  • Analysing different data dimensions and pulling them together to optimise outcomes
  • Fraud detection and identifying unusual claims
  • Analysing claims trends
  • Building stats models for benchmarking performance
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients
  • Communicate results to both internal colleagues and clients.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Tertiary qualification in statistics or a related field is essential, post-graduate qualifications will be highly regarded.
  • Several years experience in a commercial environment in a position which involves detailed statistical modelling, data analysis and communicating outcomes with key stakeholders.
  • Experience with GLMs
  • Understanding and application of a variety of statistical modelling techniques
  • Programming expertise, experience with SAS, R and Python
  • Understanding and application of a variety of statistical modelling techniques
  • Completed or commenced post-graduate studies in statistics (desired)
  • Ability to build trust with clients through credible communication of results and insights
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound interpersonal and influencing skills
