RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review, organize and analyze data to identify develop and maintain actuarial models
  • Perform innovative analysis of healthcare data through our data warehouse
  • Establish, review, approve, document and assure quality protocols for Health actuarial technical standards, models and methodologies to include establishing actuarial factors and technical policy development, documentation and use of methodologies
  • Collaborate with industry leaders to ensure that the depth and breadth of our health actuarial technical capabilities and approaches are leading-edge and competitive.
  • Initiate, conduct and review special technical studies as required
  • Engage in significant, influential client contact in collaboration with client service teams
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a credentialed actuary: FSA on the health track (or ASA within clear reach of attaining Fellowship) and MAAA; have knowledge of relevant legal, regulatory and evolving actuarial health-related issues.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience within a consulting, managed care, insurance company or corporate environment performing similar functions
  • Previous experience as a Health actuarial practitioner that includes participation in internal development initiatives focusing on Health-related technical and actuarial policies, standards and pricing tools is highly preferred.
  • Must be a collaborative, creative and innovative solution-oriented individual capable of building consensus around ideas and recommendations, and possess strong implementation skills with a track record of getting things done.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to present technical concepts to both actuaries and a non-technical audience in an understandable way.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or related technical field.
  • Previous experience manipulating large data sets or facility with healthcare data informatics.
  • Knowledge of SAS, SQL or R is highly preferred.
  • Previous experience and facility with Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Prior participation in industry or professional actuarial organizations is a plus.
