RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Models asset and liability behavior under different financial shocks
  • Projects evolution of spread income and GAAP financial results for treaties under different scenarios
  • Tracks quarterly experience for in-force treaties and assists with experience analysis to explain unexpected results
  • Develops reports highlighting recent experience and performance trends
  • Works with pricing and valuation actuaries to understand the major risks for in-force treaties and assists with the ongoing management of those risks
  • Assists other areas in the development and validation of projections for business
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with other and team members
  • Participates in key unit and ad-hoc department projects as needed

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field
  • ASA and 1+ FSA exam
  • 4+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance/reinsurance
  • Reinsurance industry experience
  • ALM / risk management experience OR Product design / pricing experience
  • CFA/CERA or other asset/risk-based credentials
  • Programming experience is a plus
  • Intermediate oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to share and impart knowledge
  • Intermediate PC and technical skills, including database applications (Access, Oracle, SQL or equivalent technology), spreadsheets, statistical programs and actuarial software (Prophet, AXIS, or equivalent)
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, refine, and interpret large amounts of financial data/results and model projections
  • Competent knowledge and understanding of actuarial concepts
  • Ability to be flexible when needed, take initiative, and demonstrate acc
  • Ability to set goals and prioritize workload
  • Intermediate investigative, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects

  • General business knowledge
  • Basic statistical programs (ex.: SAS, Matlab, Gauss) or a computing language (C/C++)
  • Optimization and debugging of Matlab and VBA code.
  • Working knowledge of Hull-White model, LMM, Heston, Stochastic Volatility, and Intensity credit models are required.
  • Experience with Bloomberg API
  • Expertise in computational finance, statistics
  • Advanced background in econometrics, statistics, math, and computational finance
  • Working knowledge of VBA
  • Familiarity with hedging analyses.
  • Experience with Numerix
