RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee valuation dry run results globally for IFRS 17, to ensure timely and adequate support for local regulatory on-going compliance, as well as for local Board meetings.
  • Lead development of IFRS 17 related valuation methodologies, including discussions with local valuation and finance teams as well as coordinating with external auditors.
  • Lead research, analysis and development of IFRS17 Risk Adjustment measurement to ensure consistent implementation across all impacted legal entities, and work closely with other key functions to ensure internal consistency in terms of pricing metrics, risk appetite and risk exposure;
  • Provide guidance to local valuation head and local research team in setting and reviewing valuation assumptions, methodologies, and models.
  • Ensure proper financial reporting and disclosures, in compliance with controls, and other statutory / regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate efforts with the Finance team and local valuation actuaries to ensure internal and external retro transactions are properly reflected in the financials.
  • Work closely with others in ARIS project team in managing changes and transition to new accounting regimes, as well as helping implementation of new changes to the current processes
  • Lead the production of initial IFRS 17 valuation results for selected offices, including management of relationship with local office actuaries, executing reviews and controls in compliance with SOX, recommending basis and modeling changes, and responsible for the accuracy of the results.
  • Support the local valuation teams as they take on more of the responsibility of producing the IFRS 17 results.
  • Work with others in ARIS team and IT to implement and validate the process being developed to produce IFRS 17 results.
  • Preparation and provision of information to supporting IFRS 17 results for discussion with finance and the Senior Management Team
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with valuation counterparts in life and reinsurance companies.
  • Report to the VP,and work closely with other members of theteam
  • Identify and address problems or needs in the day-to-day provision of valuation service, guidelines or practices, and relationships with clients.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor degree plus substantial directly related experience
  • FSA accreditation
  • 10+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance
  • Knowledge of IFRS 17 and/or US GAAP LDTI
  • Familiarity with AXIS and/or Prophet
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Seeks agreement or settlement in contentious or potentially contentious situations.
