RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develops and maintain ‘best practice’ processes and methodologies in the relevant actuarial area.
  • Ensures that best practices are fully communicated and understood through training and mentoring of actuarial staff.
  • Provides oversight of actuarial analysis ensuring the correct implementation of best practice actuarial methodologies.
  • Leads the implementation of approved refinements to current actuarial methodologies as appropriate to meet the organizational objectives.
  • Ensures procedures are in place to collect the relevant data necessary for the actuarial process and verify its availability, completeness and accuracy.
  • Plays an active role in the interpretation of data and statistical studies in the relevant actuarial area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, handling special projects as assigned by the manager or director.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Undergraduate university degree in Actuarial Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics or other related field of study.
  • Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries
  • Minimum of 5 years prior work experience in insurance or related field
  • High level of proficiency with relevant modeling software such as Emblem, Classifier or Radar
  • Extensive knowledge of current actuarial methodologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Property Casualty insurance industry and general insurance operations
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to understand context and its impact on all issues
  • Extensive programming knowledge and strong programming skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Adapts to change effectively
  • Fluency in French an asset, but not required
