  • Underwrite terms and conditions of new and renewal account by collecting, reviewing and analyzing treaty information in line with risk appetite.
  • Analyzing and performing deal pricing and peer review by quantifying the impact of various contract features, underwriting exposures and legal, regulatory and societal trends.
  • Summarizing and validating client submission data, analyzing and handling large volumes of data.
  • Effectively communicating the pricing analysis to the cross-functional deal teams including senior management.
  • Make presentations to senior management on larger accounts with the ability to articulate and support the underwriting thought process in a clear, cohesive and succinct manner.
  • Gain proficiency with our internal pricing and modelling tools to establish appropriate pricing and options on accounts in various structures and line of business.
  • Ability to work on a range of accounts including complex deal structures and large structured transactions.
  • Contribute to deal negotiation strategy, providing constructive feedback and alternative options when required.
  • Execute strategic underwiring plans aligned with premium and profitability objectives.
  • Participate in broker and client renewal calls, meetings and underwriting audits.
  • Contribute to the testing of pricing tools, updating parameters as loss trend assumptions and other ad hoc projects.
  • 7-15 years of reinsurance treaty pricing/underwriting experience in Casualty lines of business
  • Associate or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS, FCAS) desirable or someone with strong analytical/quantitative experience.
  • Bachelor's degree; an advanced degree and/or insurance designations are preferred.
  • Outstanding communication & organizational skills is essential; ability to present complex ideas/analysis to a range internal stakeholders and externally with clients and brokers.
  • Excellent understand of reinsurance markets, placement structures and underwriting approaches.
  • An area of expertise, this could pertain to pricing/underwriting a line or class of business.
  • Ability to lead external meetings with clients and brokers on technical matters with actuaries & underwriters
  • Ability and desire to work effectively in a team oriented environment with other actuaries, underwriters and account executives in a collaborative and open manner.
  • Ability to incorporate forward looking views of the market and commercialism in underwriting decisions
  • Natural desire and curiosity to continually learn and self-develop
  • Limited US domestic travel expected for client purposes (post COVID-19)
