RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct weekly, monthly and quarterly performance calculations for the Funds.
  • Reconcile performance as reported by external managers to internal calculations and performance calculations performed by the custodian and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist with the preparation of periodic reporting for senior management and the Pension Committee.
  • Assist in monitoring key investment risks of the Funds by gathering data through various sources.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses and risk decompositions and produce periodic exposure/concentration reports to support decision making, financial reporting and compliance activities.
  • Support ad-hoc investigations and conduct impact analyses.
  • Monitor the Funds’ foreign exchange exposures and counterparty exposures to support trading activities on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain databases.
  • Act as primary liaison with the Funds’ custodian regarding the completeness and accuracy of custodial performance/ risk records.
  • Assist with the development/enhancement of analytical and monitoring tools.
  • Provide transaction support.
  • Assist with the preparation and interpretation of ad-hoc data analysis.
  • Assist with monitoring of the macroeconomic environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors’ degree in Business, Mathematics, Economics or a related field of study.
  • Enrolled in or demonstrated interest in enrolling in the CFA Charterholder Program.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel/VBA.
  • Knowledge of investing principles and the concepts of asset allocation and portfolio construction.
  • Knowledge of investment instruments.
  • Knowledge of research and data collection techniques, validation, verification and analysis methods and techniques.
  • Ability to work in a sophisticated technological environment, using tools such as spreadsheets, databases and Bloomberg.
  • Ability to work with programming languages including R and SQL is considered an asset.
  • Good programming/modelling skills.
  • Ability to model investment and risk management data.
  • Ability to synthesize and present information from a variety of sources.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills; creative, innovative and open-minded; detail oriented.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
