RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide transformative and inspiring leadership to build disciplined data governance and management practices consistent with the company’s goal to become a leading public company and help build a data driven culture.
  • Develop, coach and manage the performance of team members to achieve business, functional and individual goals.
  • Build and promote a working environment that encourages productivity, collaboration, diversity, teamwork, and a high level of professionalism.
  • Drive Data Governance initiatives and lead the establishment and execution of the Data Governance Program including facilitating key Steering Committee discussions and executive reporting.
  • Partner with Business and Technology Stakeholders to develop Data Governance and Management Strategy and Roadmap, including enterprise wide Data Governance Framework and Common Data Model.
  • Develop, document and maintain enterprise standards, guidelines and policies to ensure standardization of Data Governance and Management practices across the organization. Key areas include Data Catalog, Metadata, Data Quality, Data Access and Privacy, and Reference Data.
  • Work collaboratively with the business units to ensure Data Ownership and Stewardship and adherence to EDO standards and processes.
  • Define and execute processes to periodically ensure compliance to Data Governance and Management standards, policies and guidelines; define and execute attestation processes and lead periodic reviews to ensure adherence.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience working in the insurance / financial services industry in a senior management role.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in a Data Strategy and Governance role.
  • University degree required; MBA is an asset.
  • Proven record of managing and growing Data Governance teams and/or implementing Data Governance programs and roadmaps.
  • Strong executive management and reporting skills as well as demonstrated strategic thinking experience.
  • Strong interest in and experience with using Data to drive business objectives and comfort interfacing with technology as an enabler.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Experience with data governance tools such as Collibra is an asset.
  • Self-starter who can set up their own priorities and work independently with little guidance.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to influence and effectively negotiate with stakeholders.
