RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage multiple consulting projects and budgets.
  • Hire, supervise and mentor actuarial analysts, review calculations and deliverables.
  • Assist with strategy, idea sharing, and problem resolution.
  • Perform or oversee necessary calculations or analysis on special retirement projects.
  • Oversee the annual actuarial valuation process, funding valuations, accounting results, and government forms.
  • Have final sign-off on all results.
  • Checking and analyzing actuarial valuation results, including analysis of census data, liabilities, assets and reporting, coordinating local office resources and project management.
  • Build a local pensions team and supervise those employees as direct reports.
  • Potentially perform people management tasks such as assigning, directing, and evaluating work; conducting performance evaluations; performance coaching and career development discussions.
  • Participate in new business efforts as needed.
  • Provide feedback and input on process improvement.
  • Build personal expertise and become a resource to fellow team members.
  • Management of projects within agreed scope and budget with minimal supervision from senior management.
  • Leading client project teams and delegating work effectively.
  • Helping develop team members through knowledge sharing, feedback and training.
  • Maintaining our very high professional standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant actuarial experience, employee benefits, and/or retirement benefits.
  • Experienced in both multiemployer and single employer plans preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum preferred credentials: Fellow of Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or Society of Actuaries.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in IRS funding valuations, including calculations required under PPA, and funding and accounting rules.
  • Proficient in actuarial valuation software, ProVal a plus.
  • Complete knowledge and ability to oversee actuarial analysts in the preparation of benefit calculations, government forms, valuation data preparation, etc.
  • Ability to manage personal workflow as well as oversee the work of others.
  • Ability to work independently; must be motivated with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, high achiever who has demonstrated leadership skills that will be used in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong management skills with the ability to manage internal staff.
