RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee and lead the Insurance Solutions innovation team with the mandate to build and test new business models within the Life & Health insurance space.
  • Lead development of strategy in target areas and create roadmap for us to increase client engagement and/or develop new markets and client segments.
  • Lead design and piloting of various digital and non-digital client/advisor facing solutions to prove out our strategy.
  • Support operationalization of winning solutions to deliver on our client engagement and market development mandate.
  • Oversee and lead the Insurance Solutions analytics team, which supports all functions within Insurance Solutions including sales, product development, and product management.
  • Develop a strong foundation for data and analytics by working with our partners to engineer our data environment and build/leverage our new analytics tech stack.
  • Lead design, architecture, and delivery of our Business Intelligence framework and dashboards across all supported business areas and roles.
  • Lead design, architecture, and delivery of key advanced analytics initiatives working with our partners in Operations and across the organization.
  • Oversee and lead the Insurance Solutions actuarial research team with the mandate to identify and act on opportunities to improve our product profitability or competitive position.
  • Support the product development and innovation teams on key research topics that enable us to challenge status-quo and implement innovative new ideas.
  • Connect with Innovation partners across the company, and externally, to build a view on market trends and identify opportunities for partnership.
  • Engage with Analytics Center of Excellence and other analytics teams across the company to jointly determine foundational roadmap and advocate for Insurance Solutions priorities.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with other BUs, Ops, IT, Strategy, and other partners to ensure alignment on Insurance Solutions analytics & innovation direction.
  • Engage in prioritization and goal setting exercises for owned mandate and also across the organization for Insurance Solutions as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Over ten years of experience with a minimum of 5 years in a management/leadership role.
  • Financial services industry experience is preferred, including an understanding of domain-specific operational management practices and objectives, accountabilities, problem solving approaches, industry trends and best practices.
  • Strong passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data.
  • Strategic, conceptual thinker with strong written and oral communications skills who is able to influence the opinion of others.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a highly matrixed environment, influencing and leveraging resources that do not report to them directly.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, very effective in working in a team environment and across multiple sites and business units.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies and exposure to the Fintech ecosystem relevant to life & health insurance.
  • Experience developing and running pilots to test and learn on new opportunities including pilots involving multiple BUs and external partnerships.
  • Experience developing and managing partnerships between large corporations and start-ups.
  • Strong quantitative background with high intellectual horsepower, well-versed in key quantitative and data-driven disciplines: statistics, mathematics and finance.
  • Robust understanding of data sufficiency and hypothesis-driven approach: Knows how to formulate hypothesis, design and run controlled tests to be able to conclusively identify significance in results, proving or refuting hypothesis.
  • Broad understanding of different data & analytics methodologies and tools, including SAS, Open source and autonomous analytics.
