  • Responsible for managing ongoing reinsurance needs and drive earnings with innovation in reinsurance. Manage risk through use of reinsurance. Bring forward reinsurance solutions to manage risk-return of our insurance products, includes looking at reinsurance structures, retention limits, recapture opportunities, etc. for new business and inforce.
  • Data Analytics
  • Leading a team that manages technology, tools, and analysis for advancing data analytics in insurance; including use of data analytics for underwriting innovation, identifying opportunities to deepen relationships with customer and advisors and identifying other opportunities. Develop a deep understanding of current and potential customers and translate that understanding into actionable insights that drive business performance.
  • FSA or FCIA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries)
  • 6 to 9 years relevant experience
  • Reinsurance and/or insurance product expertise
  • Understands insurance earnings and key risks in order to bring forward solutions to maximize earnings and minimize risks
  • Ability to translate complex topics into understandable solutions; ability to deal with ambiguity and flexibility of approach
  • Strong communication skills and ability to negotiate effectively
  • Bias to action - self-motivated, able to work independently and to identify and surmount obstacles proactively
  • Understands the business environment and customer needs, identifies business opportunities that create competitive advantage
  • Ability to develop highly effective long-term plans in line with the company’s strategic objectives; highly adept at setting goals and determining priorities, and identifying potential risks and opportunities
  • Able to foster collaborative relationships across Individual Customer and reinsurers to facilitate cooperation
  • Creates an environment that encourages new approaches, challenges the status quo and inspires creativity and risk-taking while protecting the core
  • Drive innovation across Insurance Solutions to substantially grow the business
