RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Evaluate long term and short-term investment strategies in accordance with the company’s investment policy statements, ensuring alignment of investment goals and risk.
  • Implement fund investment policies and strategies in accordance with investment guidelines and Investment committee instructions.
  • Monitor investment performance and risks, in accordance with investment policy statements and market conditions, following up on underperforming investments and recommending changes when warranted.
  • Maintain knowledge of a wide range of investment products and recommend solutions aligned with company values.
  • Manage the transition from a retail to an institutional investment portfolio.
  • Transition company’s investment model to include ESG investments.
  • Provide updates for Quarterly Investment Committee and Underwriter meetings.
  • Track, report and forecast restricted cash, High interest savings accounts and investment positions on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Monitor and ensure input tax credits are transferred to HISA’s in a timely manner.
  • Select or direct the execution of trades.
  • Monitor investment fees and address quality issues.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of market conditions, trends and overall economic outlook, and provide the investment committee with timely updates.
  • Provide weekly/monthly/quarterly portfolio monitoring and month-end reporting on a timely basis for financial statement and accounting purposes.
  • Work with the Actuarial team to finalize budget investment income, and profit share.
  • Monitor, report and project loan covenant compliance on a monthly basis.
  • Monitor banking agreements and ensure compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • CFA designation required.
  • Experience with institutional investing clients.
  • Experience with direct Canadian Real Estate, Global Infrastructure and Multi-Strategy investment funds.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use various techniques to design and implement investment strategies according to investment objectives as well as to provide effective portfolio management in accordance to IPS.
  • Knowledge of major products and services with ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, economics, portfolio theory, financial instruments and debt instruments.
  • Ability to work autonomously and be part of the broader team.
  • Appropriate handling of sensitive information.
  • Excellent time management and organizational ability.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Team player with the ability to communicate and coordinate with multiple parties.
