RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensuring insurance, pensions, finance and wealth models and model developments are validated in accordance with the agreed Independent Model Review schedule for such models.
  • Ensuring that Group material insurance, pensions, finance and wealth models are reviewed in line with Independent Model Review and function guidance and that any issues identified are escalated and appropriate action plan established.
  • Provide support for the Regional Team Leads where necessary, including for relevant Group Model Oversight Committees and provide regular updates to the committees on model reviews carried out by the team.
  • Support the development of skills and knowledge across the modeling teams through insightful and constructive feedback.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of review methodology for insurance, pensions and wealth models.
  • Act as the point of contact for Global teams for insurance, pensions, finance and wealth model review expertise as required.
  • Carry out independent reviews for models developed and used within the Insurance businesses or the Pensions teams, and support model review work for other areas of the company.
  • Lead the oversight of insurance, pensions, finance and wealth models, including driving model approval decisions and monitoring model performance.
  • Help build management, regulatory, and external confidence in the models.
  • Support in understanding model issues related to insurance, pensions, finance and wealth models.
  • Lead stakeholder management with relevant business stakeholders, relevant model owners/developers and the relevant Group MOCs, to exercise effective model oversight.
  • Interaction with model owners to coordinate model reviews and to report and discuss key findings.
  • Interaction with model developers to obtain evidence as part of model review work.
  • Lead the interaction with Group Internal Audit on model related audits and audit issues relating to Insurance, Pensions, Finance and Wealth.
  • Lead the Insurance, Pensions, Finance and Wealth team within the Global structure.
  • Strong leadership of reviews.
  • Work with Group Insurance Risk and Group Pensions Risk to ensure implementation of new model governance and review standards.
  • Coordinate team support to members of Global Independent Model Review and other teams in the company.
  • Lead in developing, maintaining, and effectively implementing, review methodology for Insurance, Pensions, Finance and Wealth models.
  • Maintain cost discipline, ensuring cost savings relative to carrying out model reviews externally.
  • Oversight of implementation of audit recommendations relating to Insurance, Pensions, Finance and Wealth Independent Model Review.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Actuarial qualification, or equivalent graduate / post-graduate degree.
  • Strong understanding of industry good practice and emerging regulations around modeling standards and validation.
  • Strong technical knowledge of insurance and pensions modeling methodologies and techniques, including liability modelling, ESGs and ALM, capital modelling, projections.
  • Expertise in any of French, Asia-Pacific, and Latin American regulatory and market environments desirable.
  • Experience of conducting model validations or audits of models.
  • Experience of leading teams and projects.
  • Experience of project management.
  • Experience of working with and facing off to senior management.
  • Experience of creating review policy and structures.
  • Experience in both actuarial and accounting models would be desirable.
  • Management, coaching and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to form effective relationships with model developers and owners and key senior stakeholders within the Insurance, Pensions and Wealth teams.
