RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ownership of the reinsurance planning and forecasting processes.
  • Lead the development and creation of new analysis including tracking of monthly reinsurance usage and performance and market / peer comparisons.
  • End-to-end management of the annual reinsurance renewal placement and other ad-hoc reinsurance placements that arise during the year.
  • Investigate and recommend new and existing reinsurance structures to determine the most optimal structure.
  • Drive cross collaboration with other Finance functions, including Capital, and be a key point of contact with Commercial, Personal, and Claims.
  • Develop strong relationships with key reinsurance partners and brokers to support renewal placements, pricing, and value-added activities.
  • Research and drive forward process and system improvements to increase the efficiency and availability of reinsurance data for analysis and monthly reporting.
  • Lead and develop a team of reinsurance specialists to support the above activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • University degree and CIP designation.
  • 5+ years’ experience in insurance and reinsurance required including an in-depth knowledge of reinsurance products, treaty negotiations, and establishing relationships with reinsurers.
  • Experience in managing specialist teams and working in a public company are considered assets.
  • Strong excel, modelling, and presentation skills required.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity, create new solutions, and think analytically.
  • Ability to work across multiple functions and influence many stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage numerous deliverables, deadlines, and timetables.
