RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Undertaking analysis of company’s experience across all Group, Direct, Retail, and Investment businesses on a quarterly basis including interpretation of results.
  • Designing and implementing processes to improve automation and the monitoring of experience against expectation - this includes suggesting and implementing improvements to the current experience investigation process.
  • Developing and managing processes that ensure integrity and accuracy of input data and analytical systems, and documenting these processes.
  • Understanding the underlying drivers of the business and providing insights to interpret company’s results, by building tools to thoroughly interrogate data across products and business lines.
  • Interpreting results and conveying this through appropriate business messaging.
  • Participating in the implementation and operation of tools to support the above activities.
  • Assisting the Senior Analytics Manager in engaging relevant stakeholders by delivering useful insights on experience and their financial impact.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • You will have a tertiary degree in actuarial, statistics, mathematics, economics, econometrics or equivalent, with excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • You may have an actuarial background with data analytics skills; or a data analytics background with some insurance/financial services experience.
  • Strong research, analytical and modelling experience.
  • Practical experience in data modelling, data mining and data manipulation.
  • Experience using R; and an aptitude for coding.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Pragmatic and solution driven approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong SQL skills. Have a good understanding of relational databases, database design and architecture principles.
  • Strong R skills. Must have experience in using R for end-to-end data analytics.
  • Ability to understand computer programming good practice.
  • Strong data visualization skills.
  • Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.
  • Two years working experience, preferably in life or general insurance.
  • Working towards actuarial qualification.
  • Strong Excel, SAS and VBA skills.
  • Commercial acumen.
  • Understanding of life insurance business.
  • Familiarity with Prophet.
