RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Solve problems independently and anticipates future problems and solutions.
  • Demonstrate actuarial leadership by developing and implementing IFRS 17 Actuarial Models.
  • Evaluate complex actuarial topics and recommend/build model improvements where appropriate.
  • Support the development and implementation of IFRS 17 Policies and Applications.
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise of actuarial knowledge while collaborating across business functions and within the Canadian insurance industry.
  • Develop educational material to transfer knowledge of IFRS 17 and related Corporate Guidance to Business Unit stakeholders.
  • Lead projects, coach and mentors other.
  • Keep informed of applicable industry trends and interpret changes to regulatory requirements, through active participation in working groups and educational sessions.
  • Analyzing the impact of IFRS 17 on the company; recommend and implement changes as required.
  • Research and perform analysis and review on in-force and currently issued products.
  • Prepare and present results to senior leaders.
  • Seek opportunities to improve and innovate within and outside role, encourage others to innovate as well.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Undergraduate university degree in Actuarial Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics or other related field.
  • Actively pursuing the Fellowship designation of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in the insurance industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the fundamental concepts and techniques for modeling and managing risk.
  • Excellent technical skills in Microsoft Excel/actuarial software and proficient in Microsoft Word and Access.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, company policies and industry issues.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to select the most appropriate solution and implement in a timely manner.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to mentor other team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and produce clearly expressed documentation with a tone and style fitting for the audience and message.
  • Strong team player, working to ensure group objectives are met by making quality contributions and supporting fellow team members.
  • Strong project management and time management skills with ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrates motivation and enthusiasm.
