RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Participate in actuarial-related strategic decisions for the Special Markets Solutions division.
  • Monitor changes in the Canadian actuarial landscape, and coordinate implementation of changes in cooperation with Corporate Actuarial.
  • Review and provide insight on the financial results of the division.
  • Perform or review other corporate actuarial tasks, such as Capital calculations, DCAT projections and Appointed Actuary's reporting.
  • Participate in the development and modification of insurance product features and pricing models.
  • Participate in the IFRS 17 implementation projects.
  • Evaluate new sales opportunities and provide support for proposals and agreements.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with reinsurance partners and Third Party Administrators.
  • Negotiate and review reinsurance treaties and TPA agreements.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in either Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Business or Economics.
  • ASA designation from the Society of Actuaries.
  • Some further progress towards the FSA/FCIA designations, with the intention to complete this designation.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Can see the big picture, question solutions and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to target specific audiences when presenting Bilingual would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Highly organized, able to take initiative and work independently.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments under pressure.
  • Strong proficiency in MS-Office applications, including Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Visual Basic programming skills would be considered an asset.
