  • Develop immediate short-term solution to effectively track and analyze new reinsurance business for purposes of assumption setting until longer term solution is fully scoped and vetted.
  • Work with team members in other offices, as well as reinsurance counterparts, to ensure accurate and necessary data is received.
  • Contribute to the development of a central company database as a long-term solution for effective experience analysis of all business.
  • Work with Actuarial IT team to develop code that automatically transforms and manipulates raw data fields. Code additional fields according to needs of experience analysis work.
  • Ensure thorough and proper documentation of processes is kept, including data mappings, transforms, manipulations, etc. from start to finish.
  • Test output from central database in development environment to sign-off into production for use in ongoing experience analysis.
  • Perform periodic experience analysis using database output, with a focus on key business metrics including mortality, surrenders, withdrawals, and rider utilization & restarts.
  • Propose changes to current actuarial assumptions in various models based on analysis results when appropriate.
  • Participate in ad hoc actuarial projects as necessary.
  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or related field.
  • Successful completion of 5 actuarial exams and actively working towards ASA, or if current ASA, actively working towards FSA.
  • 4+ years’ experience working in the life insurance industry.
  • Exposure to life annuities and reinsurance dynamics preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written English language skills required.
  • Experience with manipulation and analysis of large data sets required.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, SAS, and PowerQuery highly preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite necessary.
