RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work closely with our CAT Support function to gather the relevant data, prepare for import and run catastrophe modeling software.
  • Validate and analyze CAT model results with respect to exposure data and apply best practice modeling guidelines.
  • Produce loss distributions for non-probabilistic modeled perils using statistical techniques such as experience rating.
  • Interpret any standard or complex features of a Reinsurance program and use this knowledge to validate pricing results at the program level.
  • Assist in providing and communicating catastrophe loss and exposure estimates to internal customers such as underwriters or senior management.
  • Deepen expertise within your designated markets with a view to representing the company externally and adding value for our brokers and clients.
  • Proactively share knowledge in catastrophe related areas, creating learning experiences and fostering collaboration within the unit and the company.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in natural sciences, mathematics, statistics, or related quantitative field.
  • Professional experience in a Nat CAT analytical role with knowledge of basic insurance concepts.
  • Proficient level and experience in MS Excel is required; advanced skills preferred.
  • Experience with programming languages/database management, is preferred; skills and experience in scripting languages like R, Matlab or Python is a plus.
  • Highly developed conceptual, analytical and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong communication skills, openness to problem solving and generally a positive outlook are a must have.
