RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Providing leadership, direction and management of the Finance and Accounting team.
  • Providing advice and counsel to the Board as well as strategic recommendations to the CEO/president and members of the executive management team.
  • Managing the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, and overseeing the preparation of all financial reporting.
  • Advising on long-term business and financial planning.
  • Supporting strategy development and helping enable its execution. Also plays a critical role in prioritizing and ensuring the strategy can be funded.
  • Establishing and developing relations with senior management and external partners and stakeholders.
  • Reviewing all formal finance, HR and IT related procedures.
  • Responsible for directing, hiring, training, developing, mentoring and administration of the Finance staff.
  • Oversee financial reporting including: analysis and approval of the company’s monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Communicate financial results to an industry-wide audience.
  • Provide monthly member reporting/quarterly forecasts of year-end financial reporting.
  • Transition to IFRS 17.
  • Liquidity management.
  • Prepare position papers and advise Board on issues of liquidity policy, capital modeling in support of target ROE, and potential reforms including consolidation of Financial statements.
  • Ensure effective and efficient monthly projection process.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal and provincial financial reporting requirements for automobile insurers.
  • Present financial results to the Audit & Risk Committee and a summary of results to the Board at every regular meeting.
  • Strategic planning and budgeting, delivering departmental recommendations, business plans and improvements.
  • Develop strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership to manage, mentor, and inspire a talented team of Finance professionals.
  • Serve as the liaison to the Accounting Committee.
  • Work closely with external auditors and regulators.
  • Manage Company’s budget.
  • Attend meetings of the Board of Directors to support and advise the Board on financial and fiscal topics.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Finance: 10 years.
  • Accounting: 10 years.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • MBA or CPA.
