RESPONSIBILITIES
  • A commitment to developing the internal data expertise needed to ensure the execution of processes necessary to prepare data and deliver monthly reports in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to interact and facilitate discussions with other teams and executive leaders to provide solutions to complex business questions and to ensure consistency and transparency of business results.
  • Demonstrate initiative through recommending and implementing process improvements that further the long-term data and analytics strategy of the business unit.
  • Diagnose and understand issues through the analysis of company and industry experience, and recommend action.
  • Initiate and design process improvements to streamline existing tasks and improve existing processes.
  • Proficiency in new end-user business intelligence software and technologies, such as Microsoft Power BI and Azure.
  • Gather and analyze requirements on new reporting initiatives.
  • Perform liaison function between department and technology.
  • Collaborates in the development of the MIS strategies and other long-term initiatives.
  • Day to day management and mentoring responsibilities of an analytics team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a relevant analytical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ analyst experience including the ability to work with large, complex databases.
  • Pro-active, inquisitive attitude - seeking to improve processes and reports to facilitate better decision making.
  • Expresses a desire to learn more about the business and to apply that knowledge to day-to-day work.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills, acting as a mentor to less experienced team members.
  • Solid time-management skills, ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Able to perform self-review of assigned work and assist with peer-reviewing the work of others.
  • Experience building reports or analytical solutions in an application such as MS Excel/Power BI, SQL Server, Hyperion, OBIEE, and Tableau.
  • Advanced experience using the Microsoft Office product suite.
  • Understanding of insurance product and underwriting concepts is a plus.
  • Initiative, adaptability, and willingness to learn.
