RESPONSIBILITIES
  • You will be analyzing insurance portfolios, carrying out technical assessment, reviewing reinsurance terms and conditions of proportional and non-proportional property treaties in Canada and/or English Caribbean.
  • Working with our client managers, you will deliver best in class reinsurance solutions to our clients, providing key insights in negotiations with clients, especially on structuring reinsurance programs. Alongside this, you will drive key initiatives to develop new innovations for our clients.
  • We will need you to keep up-to-date on emerging trends and further develop the team's expertise by leveraging insights from the market, brokers and clients, combined with the company’s global network of experts.
  • You will be gaining hands-on insights of client portfolios by leading client underwriting audits.
  • A critical part of the role will be reviewing contract wordings together with contracts specialists and client managers to ensure that contracts adhere to the company’s underwriting guidelines and proactively work towards mutually acceptable solutions.
  • There will be opportunities for collaboration in project teams along with engagement with facultative underwriters, underwriters in different locations, product centers and other units.
  • You will also be planning and reporting tasks and be involved in the coaching and training of developing underwriting staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • You will have earned a bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • You have strong analytical skills, quantitative analyses and a flair for both wording and actuarial skills issues.
  • Relationships are important to you and you will have a good network within Canadian insurance industry.
  • Your experience will include solid underwriting judgement - ideally, 10 years of experience in insurance industry, preferably with 5 years of as a property treaty underwriter.
  • You will have strong financial acumen with knowledge of capital and liquidity management.
  • You have proven consultancy skills, you listen, ask the right questions and connect dots.
  • You are creative, and a good communicator, and you thrive in collaborations with colleagues and clients. It is also vital that you have an intrinsic motivation and like to take ownership and work independently as needed.
  • You will also have proven negotiation skills.
  • You can work under tight time constraints and constant changing boundary conditions.
  • Languages: fluency in English. French a plus. You like to interact with colleagues from different backgrounds and experiences.
