RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Extract and combine property exposure data.
  • Assess data quality and liaise with business units to strengthen data capture.
  • Model the company portfolio using commercial catastrophe modeling software.
  • Generate and analyze company catastrophe loss reports and metrics.
  • Partner with underwriting departments by providing analytics on catastrophe exposure.
  • Continually test the models to understand the impact of key drivers of loss in the portfolio.
  • Seek out best practices with respect to modeling catastrophic exposure from Reinsurance Brokers and RMS partners.
  • Provide event response analytics for live events.
  • Collaborate on responses to Regulator/Rating Agency Catastrophe Risk surveys.
  • Provide exposure data for use in outwards reinsurance analytics.
  • Research and test potential new models and sources of hazard information.
  • Assist with various other Cat Modeling and Ceded Reinsurance tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years’ experience in catastrophe modeling within an insurance setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects within time constraints.
  • Ability to work with large data sets, analyze, process, visualize and communicate quantitative information.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel; Knowledge of Access and SQL desired.
  • Will abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with the company's risk management controls.
