RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collect and analyze data on disability claims and outcomes.
  • Design, maintain, and further refine models and analysis to look for patterns in claims experience.
  • Provide analysis, insights and recommendations to senior business leaders to help them recognize areas of opportunity and drive evidence-based operational decisions.
  • Formally apply statistical / scientific rigour to analysis of data.
  • Look for other sources of information to proactively discover hidden patterns or potential areas of interest within Group Disability.
  • Ensure data is accurate, timely and that results meet the clients’ needs.
  • Look for ways to innovate and improve this process in a Continuous Improvement environment.
  • Act as a subject matter expert or technical team lead on projects when required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of Bachelor degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Econometrics, or equivalent experience.
  • Five plus years of experience in statistical/data analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience working with data, including transformation, manipulation, and statistical modeling.
  • Experience using a variety of data analysis methods and algorithms including statistical and simulation-based approaches.
  • Familiarity with querying data using SQL.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce and communicate meaningful results from data.
  • Ability to effectively present complex data adapted to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to build partnerships and develop relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong critical thinking & creative problem solving.
  • Group Disability, Insurance or Financial Services industry experience.
  • Experience with analysis of unstructured data.
  • Experience gathering and integrating external data with operational data.
