RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of data sources and structure as well as ability to extract and manipulate data using SQL.
  • Design and develop automated reports using SQL Server Reporting Services, Visual Studio or other BI tools.
  • Create complex reports using advanced SQL queries to address internal and external business needs, with appropriate documentation for future use.
  • Clearly communicate complex information concisely and articulately for all levels and audiences.
  • Drive research, development and implementation of technology-based solutions that eliminate or minimize human interaction in the creation of routine reports.
  • Serve as lead for data quality; Partner with Data Services enterprise group and business resources as needed to resolve issues.
  • Lead Reporting efforts for large, cross-functional projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Combine business knowledge and technical expertise to develop interactive reports/dashboards and advanced models to facilitate analysis of historical trends and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with other leaders to identify innovative ways to utilize data and related tools to advance business objectives.
  • Provide customer assistance to internal and external partners regarding complex reporting questions and issues.
  • Owns business problem and impact of complex reporting issues and drives resolution, which may require collaboration with Operations, IT, or other internal or external partners.
  • Resolves complex issues by leading efforts to gather and analyze related information, identify the cause of the problem, design technical solutions, and work with other departments as necessary to test and implement changes.
  • Coordinate and manage meetings as necessary to execute all steps of resolution.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to other Business Reporting Analysts in areas of strategic and critical thinking, communication, and collaboration.
  • Demonstrates effective knowledge sharing, and proactively identifies opportunities to expand Business Report Analyst I and II’s technical skills.
  • Review team deliverables, as applicable, for accuracy and completeness.
  • Works with manager to define best practices and processes for team deliverables, as well as manage assignment of requests to various team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems or Business Administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Five years of experience in a reporting or business analyst role.
  • Relational database knowledge including database design, structures, query writing, table set up and maintenance.
  • Advanced MSSQL, Oracle or similar query writing experience.
  • Advanced level proficiency with MS Excel, including Power Query, Power Pivot, Power View, VBA.
  • Advanced level proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and SQL Server Reporting Services or similar query writing experience.
  • Experience in ETL / SQL Server Integration Services is a plus.
  • Experience in MS PowerBI, Tableau or similar Business Analytics / Business Intelligence reporting tools.
  • Prior experience working in Data or Reporting role in Life Insurance industry is a plus.
  • Experience coaching, collaborating and delegating in leadership capacity is desired.
