RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To own end-to-end Cat modeling and data capture processes, ensuring accuracy and reliability, and maintaining up-to-date documentation.
  • To direct Cat Modeling activity across the company, in line with business priorities, ensuring service levels and accuracy.
  • To ensure exposure data standards are well understood by Underwriting and actively monitored.
  • To report, make recommendations regarding data quality highlighting areas for improvement.
  • To drive process efficiencies by embedding technology, including Terra, within the company.
  • To maintain appropriate levels of modeling resource, internal and external, to support business.
  • To manage outsourcing partners such that they operate in line with the company’s own internal standards.
  • To enable and train analysts to make risk level recommendations to drive Underwriting margin.
  • To embed a high-performance culture within the company Cat Modeling, nurturing talent.
  • To ensure processes are aligned with company best practice and exceed Lloyd’s minimum standards.
  • To create a Cat modeling education program for underwriters and other key stakeholders.
  • To provide key inputs to the pre and post event loss evaluation process.
  • To ensure that all key deliverables are executed at the required frequency and quality.
  • To build and drive a culture of critical evaluation and validation of all data and modeling results.
  • To deliver Product-level roll-ups to Exposure Management team for aggregation and reporting.
  • To provide timely, accurate and consistent Event Loss reports to the company Event Response Group.
  • To produce accurate and timely Proformas for Business Planning and Reinsurance Purchasing.
  • To build a strong relationship with Actuarial, Digital, R&D teams.
  • To proactively engage with stakeholders including local face-to-face meetings.
  • To attend and contribute to Americas and Group Cat Managers meetings.
  • To work closely with underwriting leaders to improve risk selection and portfolio constitution.
  • To support the Americas Head of Risk Analytics and Group Head of Risk Analytics delivering Underwriting goals.
  • To communicate Risk Analytics strategy effectively to key stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent academic qualifications including a minimum bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong mathematical, modeling, technical background.
  • Insurance qualifications are desirable.
  • Extensive Cat Modeling and Risk Analytics experience, with excellent reputation in the field.
  • Fluent in a variety of third-party vendor models, RMS essential.
  • Strong programming and technical skills e.g. SQL, Python, R, VBA, Tableau, PowerBI.
  • Working in a multi-national re/insurer and delivering the associated regulatory obligations.
  • Managerial experience, leading high-performing teams and nurturing talent.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders hierarchically and geographically.
  • Analytical skills, leverages data and analytics to create actionable insight to improve performance.
