RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist Annuity Solutions’ pricing deal leads to evaluate reinsurance solutions for the U.S. annuity market, for either specific clients or products, and/or potential solutions.
  • Reviews treaty formulas and/or mechanics, verifying suitability for all possible scenarios to validate the proposed reinsurance structure.
  • Builds or enhances actuarial models of underlying annuity business to be used for risk analysis.
  • Builds reinsurance mechanics into Excel deal models and/or actuarial models to be used as the basis for internal or external illustration of the transaction and important risk/pricing metrics.
  • Supports Annuity Solutions’ pricing deal leads to comply with all tasks defined in the company’s underwriting guidelines while advancing desired transactions to execution.
  • Calculates additional considerations related to the proposed transaction such as required capital under various accounting regimes, distributable earnings for all entities involved, impact to profit metrics for ceding company, etc., as needed, to complete due diligence.
  • Comprehensively documents and is prepared to speak to completed analysis for internal or external stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with other Annuity Solutions team members to respond timely to internal and external requests and complete due diligence.
  • Actively manages multiple priorities and responsibilities.
  • Looks for ways to improve analysis and/or processes.
  • Proactively works to build strong relationships with others in the department and the company.
  • Actively participates in meetings, asking questions, answering questions and/or providing valuable input.
  • Assists peers and junior employees, as requested or required, to foster growth and development within the department.
  • Assists with ad-hoc projects in the department or company, such as the following for Annuity Solutions business: experience studies, model governance, risk monitoring and dashboard tracking, capital calculations and pandemic testing, market research, annuity competitive analysis, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics or similar.
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or within 1 year of FSA attainment.
  • 4+ years of experience in an actuarial role.
  • Advanced PC skills, to include Microsoft Office and general coding.
  • Knowledge of annuity products and/or U.S. retirement market.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with ability to communicate complex concepts.
  • Excellent writing skills and documentation standards.
  • Technical actuarial aptitude.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple initiatives.
  • Programming knowledge: R, SQL, VBA.
  • Actuarial modelling experience: MG-ALFA, Risk Agility.
  • Experience with Solvency II or stochastic based capital.
  • Understanding or experience of annuity products sold in the US.
  • Understanding or experience with reinsurance.
  • Understanding or experience with CARVM, AG33, AG43.
