RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Complete quarterly reserve analyses and develop IBNR estimates.
  • Support loss development estimates for catastrophes.
  • Query and analyze data using SQL and Excel.
  • Work on Quarterly Statements and Annual Statements.
  • Assist with preparation of Actuarial Opinion and Actuarial Report.
  • Understand and contribute to Statutory and GAAP financial statements.
  • Assist with collecting data and responding to inquiries from state insurance departments, auditors, and functional areas.
  • Extract and reconcile data from various source systems and ensure accuracy.
  • Gather information and insights from different internal departments and complete reports and analysis as to support business goals.
  • Proactively work to build strong relationships with peers, manager, and other departments.
  • Effectively communicate findings, impacts, and conclusions to stakeholders.
  • Communicate realistic deadlines and prioritize projects.
  • Take actuarial exams in pursuit of professional designation.
  • Gain understanding of insurance products and business units; become aware of industry trends that influence the company’s business.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science or comparable technical/quantitative field.
  • Successful completion of at least one actuarial exam from the Casualty Actuarial Society.
  • Robust programming skills preferred and experience with one or more of the following: SQL, VBA, SAS, Oracle, R, Python, or other statistical programming software.
  • Working knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with insurance terminology and principles.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Task oriented and able to meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to details and able to work independently and accurately.
  • Works effectively with others both within and across businesses, establishing and maintaining productive working relationships.
