RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Understand the current modelling methods for IFRS and Solvency II.
  • Understand the current assumptions that are used in the models and how the assumptions were developed.
  • Review historical results and compare the historical results to projected experience.
  • Recommend changes to the assumptions that allow for a more accurate projected premium and claims that are consistent with historical experience.
  • Work closely with the company’s U.S. Head and his staff to increase the economic value of management actions.
  • Work closely with the company’s U.S. Chief Actuary and his staff to implement the necessary model changes.
  • Document recommendations.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field with demonstrated record of academic excellence.
  • ASA or FSA designation.
  • Must have 5+ years of experience with financial modelling and assumption setting.
  • Ideally has Prophet experience or other actuarial modelling software.
  • IFRS and/or Solvency II reporting experience.
  • Experience managing processes and effectively representing department at various meetings.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand broader picture and impact of decisions.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to make strategic decisions.
  • Building & maintaining relationships with colleagues throughout the company.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex models and perform valuation and analysis to deliver required results.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement departmental processes and controls and ensure appropriately documented.
  • Technically astute within the actuarial discipline and industry software applications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal, written and relationship building.
  • Rapid and consistent increase in responsibilities in an organization, preferred.
