RESPONSIBILITIES
  • You will plan and drive the coordinated development, implementation, and embedment of risk strategy across the business.
  • You will support a strong enterprise-wide internal control framework, providing challenge and assurance that controls are working effectively.
  • You will provide expert advice and guidance to senior management on risk management to educate and to help with effective risk based decision making aligned to Risk Appetite.
  • You will bring your expertise and influence to support and drive effective and efficient Risk and Control Committees/ Forums.
  • You will work with key stakeholders to identify organizational, strategic, and emerging risks across the organization and to critically assess and challenge areas of concern and/or opportunity.
  • Facilitate Line 1 risk assessments for significant projects or arrangements or other significant change to the business.
  • Ensure prompt action is taken to identify, address, and/or escalate non-compliance, agree remedial and mitigating actions, and/or provide early warning of issues and implications.
  • You will support effective Risk reporting for key stakeholders, including Executive, Board, Regulatory bodies, external auditors, etc.
  • Work closely with Group Risk and Compliance Functions on our Best in Class journey to share knowledge and thought leadership as well as identify and drive shared standards, risks and consistent practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5 + years’ experience in risk management, internal / external audit, or control development and testing within a financial institution, ideally an insurer or reinsurer.
  • A relevant professional designation and / or technical capabilities within underwriting, claims, operations, actuarial or IT/IS disciplines.
  • Knowledge of principles, techniques, current trends, best practices, laws, policies and programs related to risk management.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills from a non-authoritative position.
  • High capacity for understanding and managing complex issues.
  • Results oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
  • Strong business acumen and confidence interacting with senior management and other key oversight functions.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in dealing with confidential/sensitive information and issues.
  • Strong aptitude for understanding and analyzing financial information.
