RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and execute the regular requirements and initiatives at the company’s insurance risk committee, including but not limited to:
  • Review of insurance risk limits and key risk indicators
  • Insurance risk reports, including insurance risk EC and global retention.
  • Emerging insurance risks and risk scenarios.
  • Develop content and frameworks to improve the monitoring and maintenance of insurance risks at the company.
  • Serve as the global lead risk officer for client recapture risk for the company, developing and maintaining a framework for monitoring that risk via risk limits and / or key risk indicators, and reporting notable developments to senior management.
  • Coordinate, lead and execute the strategy of global insurance risk projects for the company, create and review models and statements for internal and external reporting around insurance risk.
  • Represent Global Pricing and Insurance Risk on committees and working groups at the company, contributing independent thought on managing risk and helping to execute the vision of the committees and working groups consistent with company’s understanding of insurance risk.
  • Lead Global Pricing and Insurance Risk department’s participation in risk management for company’s offshore entities and global risk coordination of insurance and market and credit risks for all of the company.
  • Perform management duties including, but not limited to, hiring, training, coaching and evaluating direct reports. Mentor associates and give guidance on associate development. Foster a positive and engaged work environment.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field.
  • Fellowship, Society of Actuaries.
  • 15+ years’ experience in life or health insurance and/or reinsurance: includes 5+ years’ experience in life/annuity pricing and/or product development.
  • 7+ years management experience.
  • Advanced understanding of design, risks and critical assumptions relating to a broad array of life, annuity and other protection products.
  • Advanced PC and technical skills, including spreadsheets, actuarial software, and database applications.
  • Advanced actuarial technical skills and an ability to detect and explain sources of variation from expectations in terms of key drivers.
  • Experience with the ORSA framework and other various statements / disclosures on insurance risk.
  • Experience with developing pricing bases.
  • An understanding of reinsurance entities and structuring of reinsurance business. Ability to model various reinsurance structures and designs.
  • Highly advanced project management skills. Demonstrates ability to evaluate project objectives and scope feasibility, gain understanding, schedule resources, and manage budget to plan.
  • Customer relationship management and change management skills.
  • Ability to implement organizational, divisional, and/or departmental vision and goals that result in achievement, ensuring understanding, participation and ownership of the results across the company.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and/or teams simultaneously, including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines.
  • Expert oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful, well received and tailored to the audience.
  • Expert level of investigative, analytical and problem solving skills, and ability to make timely and effective decisions.
  • Ability to travel internationally on an occasional basis.
  • Preferred:
  • Familiarity with economic and other capital models.
  • International experience with a variety of risks that the company is actively pursuing including mortality, morbidity, policyholder behavior and interest rate.
  • AXIS, TAS and/or MoSes experience.
  • Enterprise risk management experience.
