  • Risk cost estimation using a variety of statistical, actuarial and machine learning techniques.
  • Making technical pricing recommendations based on behaviours relating to claims risk and propensity to purchase.
  • Producing visualisations and reports that can be presented to key stakeholders.
  • Ensuring the approaches used are repeatable and automated wherever possible.
  • Following appropriate model validation protocols, from cross validation to in-market testing to peer review, depending on the circumstance.
  • Identify and recommend improvements in analysis that increases efficiency and effectiveness in generation of insights.
  • Guiding analysts in their work, particularly where new techniques are being adopted.
  • Leading and participating in internal educational sessions for small and large groups.
  • Providing assistance and guidance for colleagues taking exams and qualifications.
  • You will be continuously on the lookout and recommending new opportunities and process improvements.
  • You will participate in study sessions / reading groups / community of practice events, independent or guided study or independent research in the areas you want to develop.
  • Prior experience in the analysis of complex data, preferably with experience in General Insurance Actuarial or Analytical roles.
  • Experience using traditional actuarial/technical pricing methods for general insurance classes.
  • Experience in designing, building and evaluating models for pricing purposes would be desirable.
  • Insurance industry domain expertise and familiarity with relevant legislation and the regulatory environment.
  • Programming experience with analytical software such as SAS, R, Python or SQL.
  • Strong communication skills to discuss and present complex information, analysis and findings to technical, and non-technical audiences at a variety of levels.
  • Tertiary qualifications in an Actuarial, Mathematical, Statistics or other Analytical degree.
  • Experience using machine learning algorithms would be desirable.
  • Advanced skills in statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, multivariate testing, and optimisation algorithms.
  • Advanced knowledge of analytics and data processing technologies and architectures.
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor and develop junior Analysts to ensure their ongoing technical and leadership development.
