RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide support in the shaping and stewardship of the pension risk management infrastructure of the Asia Pacific operations.
  • To support effective risk and capital management of pension risk, by establishing and maintaining assessment mechanisms, calculation of stress testing and capital, governance and guidelines for management of pension and benefits risks.
  • Carry out the second line review and challenge and oversight to pension activities in the region, including coordinating the Pension Risk Register to ensure comprehensive and robust controls and their effectiveness.
  • Carry out first line of defence work for schemes in the region including calculations of internal and external stress tests, calculations of economic capital for Defined Benefit schemes in the region as well as helping to drive optimal use of regional and group pension capital, and develop proficiency in maximising utility on the group's main tool for pension risk management a third party vendor.
  • Acts as the Secretariat for the regional Pensions Oversight Forum, preparation of associated materials as well as help shape the agenda.
  • Preparation of regular risk updates for governance committees and identifying key risks and issues in the region and escalating as appropriate.
  • Keeping abreast of pension regulatory changes, especially with regards to accounting and economic capital for the regional operations.
  • Monitoring the accounting and local funding status of Defined Benefit schemes in the region and other reports from the first line of defence.
  • Performing an annual review of the regional operations' risk management framework and other pension risk projects as needed to implement sound governance and robust risk management around pension benefits.
  • Maintaining the regional operational risk map for pension and the top and emerging pension risks in the region for escalation to the appropriate risk and pension committees.
  • Supporting the embedding of the pension risk appetite statement for the region and ensuring alignment with the Global Pension Risk Appetite Statement.
  • Support the de risking strategy and activities in the region.
  • Closely coordinating with the Global Pension Risk team to ensure alignment with group pension FIMs, philosophy and risk management framework, and work closely with Asia Pacific Human Resources, Finance and wider risk teams to accomplish a joint vision for pension strategy.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Economics, Business Administration, Finance or a related field.
  • Relevant pensions as well as actuarial qualification desirable.
  • Experience with accounting rules, especially IAS 19.
  • Experience with corporate pension plans is a must.
  • Pension risk management including regulatory stress tests and economic capital methodologies desirable.
  • Experience working with the PFaroe platform an advantage.
  • Project and risk management experience.
  • Experience of working in Capital Management or Finance function an additional advantage.
  • Ability to embrace change, contributing to joining up with the other teams in Risk Strategy and function globally.
  • Ability to form effective relationships and achieve influence at a senior level in the organisation.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management in the language of business.
  • Proven ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • Financial and accounting acumen.
  • Ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills and deep understanding of pension liabilities calculations as well as asset matching of pension liabilities.
  • Understanding of the company's pension regulatory requirements & developments and challenges faced by the pension system an advantage.
  • Understanding of macroeconomic environment and investment market desirable.
  • Full knowledge of the Microsoft Office product suite.
  • Ability to explain complicated issues in simple terms.
