RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and manage a team of high-performing data scientists.
  • Lead the development of processes to extract and engineer predictive features from raw telematics datasets.
  • Experiment with new feature selection techniques to understand combinations of driving events and contextual information that point to higher loss propensity.
  • Conduct research to inform the design of new products which integrate telematics data into our pricing formulae.
  • Establish project plans, ensure quality deliverables within agreed upon timeframes, communicate results and make recommendations to address issues.
  • Provide strategic input and thought partnership on complex projects and business issues.
  • Collaborate with analytical peers and counterparts to stay on top of business trends and analytical standard methodologies.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial Science or other quantitative field of study plus:
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in modeling or advanced analytics with a Ph.D.
  • 5-7 years of professional experience in modeling or advanced analytics with a Master’s degree.
  • 8-10 years of professional experience in modeling or advanced analytics with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Insurance or financial services industry experience preferred.
  • Strong background in Statistical Learning. Proven experience using statistical modeling software with the ability to build models of moderate complexity.
  • Experience using big data tools and cloud computing strongly preferred.
  • Lead projects and deliver high quality work through others, while maintaining a productive and motivated team. Commitment to creating a challenging and rewarding learning environment within the team.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and apply independent judgment and well-developed critical thinking skills in management of assignments and projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to exchange ideas and convey complex information clearly and concisely to technical and business leaders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and build effective relationships within and outside the organization.
