  • Interact with various business units and actuarial functions within the company including; Business Development, Corporate Actuarial, Applied Research & Development, Enterprise Risk Management, Inforce Management, Innovation, Reinsurance Operations and Human Resources.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and successfully deliver on project objectives with guidance from senior staff and internal clients.
  • Assist with work on a variety of projects and requests, including but not limited to:
  • Designing actuarial models for unique reinsurance structures.
  • Developing efficient and flexible financial projection models in GGY AXIS.
  • Performing statutory reserve, capital and GAAP calculations.
  • Supporting risk analysis and the regular sensitivity testing of financial results.
  • Preparing marketing materials and industry publications.
  • Implementing new initiatives, internal reviews and model audits on behalf of company’s Central Life Underwriting and Central Life Reserving units.
  • Providing stewardship services globally related to company’s actuarial modelling and experience analysis software.
  • Take responsibility for client communications, setting and managing expectations.
  • Succeed working in parallel on multiple projects and priorities.
  • Mentor New Associates joining the group.
  • Effectively delegate work, peer reviewing delegates’ work and keeping project timelines on track.
  • Staying current regarding industry hot topics and regulatory changes.
  • Present formally and informally to the clients, management and occasionally company’s clientele.
  • Adapt to ambiguous or changing situations.
  • University Degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Statistics, or Mathematics.
  • Recent Associate of the Society of Actuaries or progressing towards attainment of this designation. Those nearing or having completed their FSA designations would be candidates for the Senior Actuarial Associate/Actuary level.
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills in general conversation, written responses to internal and external clients and formal presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt in a dynamic environment and successfully deliver on multiple assignments under tight timelines.
  • Advanced Excel, Word, and database skills, including experience with programming of macros to automate tasks.
  • Experience in the insurance/reinsurance industry is an asset.
  • Knowledge of GGY AXIS or IDS Insight Enterprise is an asset.
  • Ability to travel internationally is an asset.
