RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the end-to-end Operational Risk Management, Process Risk Control Self-Assessment including process walk-through, risk & control identification, leading executive review sessions and securing executive certifications.
  • Responsible to review and assist in identifying business risks and controls through self-assessments, new initiative risk assessments and other risk assessments, ensuring completeness and consistent use of the Company’s risk assessment methodologies; Verify action plans resulting from the assessments are properly logged in the centralized issue tracker.
  • Responsible to identifying, reviewing and challenging key risk indicators and monthly risk dashboard submitted by the business; maintain an up-to-date inventory of KRIs.
  • Responsible to review and provide independent challenge on operational risk events and associated risk mitigation action plans submitted by the business in the Incident Reporting template, ensuring they are properly recorded in the centralized issue tracker; Develop analytics and reporting to management on operational risk events.
  • Develop and monitor reporting for the Company’s centralized Issue Management database, tracking and reporting on open risk mitigation action items; Monitor closure of issues to ensure that the documented rationale for closure and independent review of evidence is appropriate.
  • Provide analysis and expertise utilizing a variety of analytical techniques and perform deep dive of topical risk issues; create new reporting to facilitate risk and quality monitoring, presenting data and information in a meaningful format to be actioned and to support decision making.
  • Prepare, review, validate and ensure all reports are delivered in a timely fashion according to the agreed to production schedule of monthly, quarterly and annual Risk and/or Board Reporting.
  • Maintain and update operational risk management tools, procedures and quality control checklists; contribute to development and delivery of risk awareness training; assist with the regular review of the Risk Taxonomy.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 5 years of Insurance and/or Financial Services Industry experience.
  • University Degree in Business or Equivalent.
  • Relevant certification in Risk Management or related field.
  • Strong knowledge with Governance, Risk and Compliance and Controls frameworks.
  • Knowledge of the Insurance and/or Financial Services industry and regulatory environment.
  • Previous experience managing a risk program or framework.
  • Industry accreditation would be an asset.
  • Thorough understanding of risk assessment best practices, concepts, practices and tools.
  • Ability to identify business-critical needs, analyze complex situations with view to determining causes, problem solving skills with demonstrated creative, innovative and strategic thinking.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills; ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong blend of analytical, decision-making and creative problem solving skills to resolve business issues.
  • Knowledge of project delivery approaches, means and methods, and project performance measures; Proficiency in Microsoft and applicable risk management applications.
