RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide second line of defense oversight and effective challenge to ensure that enterprise risks are identified, assessed and managed per company’s risk appetite; conduct risk assessment workshops with the executives and their senior leadership teams to arrive at consensus on probability and severity of enterprise risks and mitigating actions.
  • Continue to integrate risk management into business agenda.
  • Continue to enhance the Enterprise Risk Management framework including, policies, standards, guidelines, procedures and reporting; assist with the development of policies, standards and guidelines to manage key risks.
  • Manage the coordination and preparation of Enterprise Risk Management Dashboard reporting for Management and Board reviews.
  • In close engagement with the first line of defense business owners, establish, coordinate and support the Operational Risk Management reviews and Risk Control Self-Assessment to understand risk exposures and process failures and address key and emerging operational risk issues as they arise at the Enterprise level.
  • Conduct initial review and challenge risk identification for root cause and remediation actions, completeness based on knowledge of the external environment and a comprehensive understanding of the business on an end-to-end basis.
  • Provide oversight, management and integration of the ORM Reviews programs, including working with business areas to assure adequate implementation of ORM Framework across business processes, monitor remediation actions and perform continuous improvements.
  • Collaborate across Internal Audit and Compliance activities to advance maturity of risk management practices; lead efforts in validating and testing the effectiveness of processes and controls, including managing internal audits and supervisory reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 8 years of Insurance and/or Financial Services Industry experience.
  • University Degree in Business or Equivalent.
  • Relevant certification in Risk Management or related field.
  • Strong knowledge with Governance, Risk and Compliance and Controls frameworks.
  • Knowledge of the Insurance and/or Financial Services industry and regulatory environment.
  • Previous experience managing a risk program or framework.
  • Industry accreditation would be an asset.
  • Thorough understanding of risk assessment best practices, concepts, practices and tools.
  • Ability to identify business-critical needs, analyze complex situations with view to determining causes, problem solving skills with demonstrated creative, innovative and strategic thinking.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills; ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong blend of analytical, decision-making and creative problem solving skills to resolve business issues.
  • Knowledge of project delivery approaches, means and methods, and project performance measures; Proficiency in Microsoft and applicable risk management applications.
