  • Act as liaison between Group Pricing and the North American Pricing team which includes the local U.S. and Canadian teams.
  • Ensure Global pricing and other relevant standards are implemented in the local markets.
  • Participate in the pricing escalation and referral process for North American quotes for all lines of business written in the US and Canada. This includes Individual Life, Critical Illness, Disability, Group Life and Disability, and Financial Reinsurance products.
  • Consult with the Senior VP- Deputy Chief Pricing Officer on larger blocks of business, as well as those with unusual features or issues.
  • Ensures the pricing on referred deals is consistent with Global guidelines and processes.
  • Assures the profitability of each block of business on a Value of Deal and ROI basis, as well as assuring that expected surplus strain fits within Company’s capacity.
  • Provide advisory support to the local teams on pricing and modeling and support the design and review of new pricing tools or updates of current tools.
  • Support the analysis and review of local key pricing assumption updates.
  • Lead Global pricing projects on behalf of the North American region with support from the local pricing teams.
  • Manage the CART process for the local markets and be able to clearly explain the results and changes from prior reporting periods. Prepare reporting and commentary for presentation to Regional and Global senior management.
  • Liaise with the Experience Analysis, Finance, Inforce and Valuation teams to ensure consistency in how the business is reflected in the financials as well as regarding pertinent issues on specific deals.
  • Provide leadership, motivation and support to actuarial teams, providing achievement of key individual and team results on a timely basis.
  • Interacts with clients at industry meetings and work with Business Development and other appropriate departments to find solutions to issues.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or its foreign equivalent.
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and / or Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
  • 10 years of progressive experience in product management and corporate financial management in the life insurance and life reinsurance industry.
  • Experience pricing reinsurance products.
  • Experience to include the valuation of life reinsurance liabilities under NAIC and Canadian or GAAP reporting regimes.
  • Offshore experience with reporting under GAAP.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of life insurance laws and regulations and insurance products.
  • PC skills and experience with analysis of actuarial software output.
  • Very strong written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and to supervise others.
  • Credibility and leadership, capability to generate a high level of respect and trust from Company management and other actuarial professionals.
