RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee Prophet-related aspects of the production process to ensure timely and accurate reporting, including model reviews for quarterly releases.
  • Provide guidance to local valuation head and local research team in setting and reviewing valuation assumptions, methodologies, and models.
  • Review experience study results, basis changes, and the resulting impacts for reasonableness and appropriateness, and communicate key changes to senior management from the North American side.
  • Ensure proper financial reporting and disclosures, in compliance with US GAAP, SOX controls, and other statutory / regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate efforts with the Structured Finance team and local valuation actuaries to ensure retro transactions and changes, if any, are properly reflected in the financials.
  • Support Corporate actuarial in respect of Business Planning, PBI, Capital Planning, APAC Loss Recognition Testing and Profit followed by Losses Analysis, and perform internal audit for NBEV and risk transfer assessment.
  • Engage with internal and external auditors from North American side on a regular basis in managing the scope of audit and timing expectations in order to minimize disruption to the BAU team.
  • Work closely with ARIS project team in managing changes and transition to new accounting regimes, as well as helping implementation of new changes to the current processes.
  • Lead the actuarial valuation for assigned offices, including management of relationship with local office actuaries, executing reviews and controls in compliance with SOX and our internal ERM framework, recommending basis and modeling changes, and responsible for the accuracy of the valuation results.
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute functional strategy for assigned offices’ valuation teams in cooperation with local offices and International valuation team.
  • Ensure that month end financial reporting processes are carried out on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Ensure the valuation environment and processes are properly established and monitored
  • Support company’s annual planning process.
  • Preparation and provision of management information to support Senior Management Team in the strategic development of the business.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with valuation counterparts in life and reinsurance companies.
  • Maintain internal valuation process controls necessary to provide reasonable assurance of the reliability and accuracy of valuation results reflected in the financial statements.
  • Report to the VP of Viper Production & Model Governance, and work closely with other Corporate Actuarial members.
  • Ensure appropriate monitoring and assessment on ongoing competence of staff.
  • Ensure US GAAP, US Statutory, and US Tax results are completed on an accurate and timely basis.
  • Identify and address problems or needs in the day-to-day provision of valuation service, guidelines or practices, and relationships with clients.
  • Participate in claims analysis and management.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor degree plus substantial directly related experience.
  • FSA accreditation.
  • 7+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance.
  • Full knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Familiarity with AXIS and/or Prophet.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Seeks agreement or settlement in contentious or potentially contentious situations.
  • Activities requiring the balancing of a number of objectives within a given timeframe by drawing on various resources.
  • Identification and weighting of new and diverse consequences using recognized criteria.
