RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Actively involved in responding to quotation requests and add value through acquired in depth market knowledge and technical expertise. Major contributor to differentiating company proposals through thorough reviews of the products and processes to increase the likeliness of securing the business, increase the profitability and to engage more deeply with the clients.
  • Promote product and process improvements to the clients.
  • Negotiate where opinions differ, with an understanding of the impact on company’s financial results.
  • Development & support of tools to assist with the monitoring of current profitability & future trends.
  • Support and share knowledge with staff, as required.
  • Contribute to the development of the strategic direction of the line of business and the supporting execution roadmaps.
  • Based on a deep understanding of the market and relevant data, manage and contribute to the development of strategically significant innovative Living Benefits solutions.
  • Coordinate internal resources from multiple departments and disciplines at the company for support of Living Benefits product initiatives.
  • Interact, build and maintain strong relationships with the relevant contacts at client companies regarding technical issues, concerns and seek to resolve them proactively and recommend best practices.
  • Provide training for clients and/or staff relative to new product initiatives and/or refreshing on existing Living Benefits products.
  • Assist in the identification and development of new services. Assist in the development of marketing materials for these services.
  • Ensure existing programs and services are fully reviewed and vetted for use in the Canadian LB marketplace
  • Participate in marketing activities as required by the role.
  • Represent the company as an expert at seminars and trade shows, and actively seek and develop case studies and articles that highlight client success with company solutions.
  • Cultivate relationships with key personnel in the market.
  • Provide support as requested by other department heads for coordination of issue resolution with clients and/or provide product knowledge.
  • Provide support as subject matter expert to Global Living Benefits team, as required.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for product-related discussions.
  • Follow product-related trends to make sure company is at the forefront of changes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of insurance or reinsurance experience.
  • 5+ years of insurance/reinsurance experience with disability and critical illness insurance products.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and good computer knowledge.
  • Underwriting, Product Management, and/or Actuarial experience would be an asset.
  • Bilingual French / English.
  • Knowledge of life insurance products and general business practices.
  • Highly advanced oral and written communication.
  • Presentation and training skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well-received by all stakeholders, including customers and associates.
  • Highly advanced persuasion and negotiation skills when working with internal partners and external customers.
  • Highly advanced investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills utilizing experience, research, guidelines and internal resources.
  • Highly advanced ability to manage multiple tasks, projects and/or sub-teams simultaneously, including the ability to handle changing priorities and ability to delegate key areas of responsibility.
  • Highly advanced ability to translate business needs and problems into viable and accepted solutions.
  • Expert ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives.
  • Advanced skills in customer relationship management and change management.
  • Expert ability to analyze and improve business processes.
