  • Research, extract, and manipulate complex data from relevant sources.
  • Identify relationships, problems/issues, and assess data quality.
  • Perform analysis/reviews as assigned.
  • Incorporate, understand and transfer knowledge of current methods, while ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Create and validate models to answer business questions as assigned.
  • Identify opportunities for automation of routine tasks.
  • Develop creative new approaches to problem solving.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to the actuarial groups.
  • Understanding of both industry and company terminology.
  • Perform other duties as assigned/requested by the manager.
  • Undergraduate University degree in Actuarial Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics or other related field of study.
  • Pursuing FCAS designation with completion and credit/s of any of the following: at least 1 or more CAS examination/s, 3 Associateship Exam & VEE Credits along with 2 years’ prior work experience in insurance or related field, preliminary Actuarial exams & VEE Credits, Online Courses 1 and 2, and 3 Associateship exams along with 1-year prior work experience in insurance or related field.
  • Experience with relevant modeling software such as Emblem, Classifier or Radar is considered an asset.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of actuarial science, mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to problems in insurance
  • Ability to translate problem solving methods and ideas to various computer languages efficiently and effectively.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of database systems and how to interpret/extract data from those systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate at the right level of complexity for the audience.
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner.
  • Works efficiently and cooperatively in a team environment and involve others when appropriate.
  • Ability to ask effective questions to elicit detailed and relevant information.
