  • Extract and analyze data from various sources to perform statistical functions on the data, using spreadsheet or database software.
  • Develop rate level evaluation reports and recommended rate changes by calculating impacts of proposed rate, rule, and form changes.
  • Communicate results and recommendations to business partners and senior leadership.
  • Prepare regulatory filings for rate changes with the insurance departments.
  • Review specific components of company rating plans, and perform specialized reviews as requested by management.
  • Depending on the hired level, this individual may work with minimal guidance to execute certain actuarial activities. They may also be called upon to lead projects of a non-routine nature.
  • A college degree from an accredited four-year college, with preference given to analytical studies in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Engineering, Finance, Economics or other related areas.
  • Three to four years of actuarial experience is preferred, with most of that time spent working specifically on P&C insurance products.
  • Completion of two or more exams sponsored by the Casualty Actuarial Society is preferred, as is a desire to pursue Associateship or Fellowship by continuing with the CAS exams.
  • Advanced ability to pull, manipulate, and analyze data through spreadsheets, database applications, statistical software, and word-processing software.
  • Programming experience or education is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to relate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to create useful data visualizations and presentations.
  • Interpersonal skills, and inclination to collaborate directly with business partners in various functions across the enterprise
  • Thorough knowledge of mathematics.
  • Ability to apply actuarial and mathematical techniques to solve business problems.
  • Ability to apply concepts to statistical modeling and data mining software.
  • Ability to develop sophisticated data queries and analytic routines using programming languages.
